FAQs

What is window film?

Window film is a self-adhesive polyester film that is applied to glass surfaces. It is used to upgrade Solar Control, Aesthetics, Safety and Security to Residential, Commercial and Automotive properties.

How does it work?

Solar radiation is divided into three components:

• Visible Light

• InfraRed (heat we feel), and

• UltraViolet rays (invisible).

Window film blocks harmful UV rays and InfraRed heat from passing through the glass.

Do all window films perform the same?

No, The amount of heat and glare rejected depends on the type of window film and level selected.

What is the difference between the films?

Non-Reflective/Dyed films absorb solar energy.

Reflective/Metallised films absorb as well as reflect solar energy.

Nano/Ceramic films use high-tech compounds to provide high performances.

How much Ultraviolet radiation do your films block??

Our window films block out 99% of the harmful UV rays.

How long does it take for the tint to settle?

After the service, it is common to see slight haziness and/or small water pockets. Don't panic; this is not a sign that the installation has gone wrong. The adhesive bonds in the film may take up to 30 days to fully cure, depending on weather conditions. The curing process takes time due to the remaining water needing to evaporate through the film.

Heavy security films take longer to cure.

What's safe to use when cleaning tinted windows?

You should avoid strong cleaning chemicals and buy an ammonia-free solution.

Tintology recommends diluted methylated spirits or soapy water. This is the best and cheapest alternative, producing excellent results.

Do you have a film that doesn't look tinted?

Yes, our Spectrally Selective Interior Film filters impressive levels of solar heat while maintaining a natural appearance that maintains the building's original facade thanks to its nanotechnology engineering.

Is there a price difference between the films?

Yes, there is a slight difference between the films we use. Each film is manufactured with different quality and technology. High-quality films are more expensive, and their longevity has proven high performance hence the lifetime warranty for interior installation.

Low-cost films begin to fade within years and will perform poorly. We recommend our high-quality range. You will get what you pay for.

What is the warranty on window films?

There is a manufacturer's lifetime warranty interior installs.

Residential exterior installs have a seven-year warranty due to the film being exposed to weather conditions.

Commercial interior installs have a five-year warranty because cleaners come in regularly, and they can unknowingly use harsh chemicals on the tinted windows.

Where is your business located?

Our business is located in Wollert and Preston.

When can we book in our service?

Before any work commencements, a deposit of 50% is required to secure materials and a booking slot. Once the 50% deposit is paid, we will then go through and confirm a time and day.

Do I need to clean the windows before the service?

No, we have a cleaning process before applying the film.

Do we need to move furnishings out of the way?

We need half a meter of space between the glass and furnishings. Unless it's a high window and we need to fit our big ladder or build a scaffold, we will need a couple of meters.

Will window film make my home colder during winter?

The films help insulate the glass through the wintertime, and the window protection stops the heat from escaping through the glass. The film also helps cut out a lot of the glare of an overcast day.
